We took our ROVs for a test mission at Porto’s Leixões Harbor. These tests used the Blueye ROV Pioneer and a BlueRobotics BlueROV2.
These tests target the BUGWRIGHT2 EU project and served as the first tests for integrating the Pioneer into the LSTS Toolchain.

The REMARO ETN is a consortium of recognized submarine AI experts, software reliability experts, and a marine safety certification agency created to educate 15 ESRs able to realize the vision of reliable autonomy for underwater applications.

REMARO seeks candidates for 15 PhD positions that will work together on more reliable AI for marine robotics (vision, navigation, perception, planning, failure recovery, testing, verification, model-checking, model-driven engineering …), There are 15 different research projects available with different prerequisites and focus, located in Copenhagen, Oslo, Porto, Bremen, Aachen, and Delft.

The website for the European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and Water Column Observatory, Portugal (EMSO – PT) has been launched today.

EMSO-PT is a European Large Scale Research Infrastructure, consisting of multidisciplinary underwater observatories and other data processing support infrastructures. The goal of EMSO-PT is to generate continuous scientific data on marine environmental processes related to the interaction between the geosphere, biosphere and hydrosphere, made available through open access to all stakeholders.

The summer course on Marine Robotics is funded by the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology (FCT) and organized by the Laboratório de Sistemas e Tecnologia Subaquática (LSTS) from the University of Porto and the AIR Centre. in cooperation with the H2020 EU Marine Robots Project, coordinated by LSTS.

An international call is open to grant 13 (thirteen) PhD Scholarships (Bolsas de Investigação para Doutoramento – BD) financed by the Portuguese National Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the Collaboration Protocol signed between FCT and AIR Centre.

The main objective of this PhD project is to develop novel ocean observation techniques with coordinated autonomous ocean and air vehicles. This interdisciplinary project is focused on on-board data assimilation using statistical models and on adaptive sampling. The project will be conducted at the LSTS – Underwater Systems and Technology Laboratory of the University of Porto. It is strongly aligned with ongoing national and EU-funded projects on ocean observation with multi-domain robotic vehicles. Topics of expertise in the LSTS include planning and execution control, integration of modelling and adaptive sampling, and algorithms for finding, tracking, and sampling dynamic features of the ocean. Applications include studies of river plumes, coastal fronts and internal waves.

O curso intitula-se "Introdução à robótica para aplicações em observações do Oceano, à arqueologia e ao mapeamento de ecossistemas" e conta com a participação de 15 alunos, selecionados entre um total de 46 candidaturas recebidas.
