Last November, Laboratório de Sistemas e Tecnologias Subaquáticas and Instituto de Arqueologia e Paleociências (IAP) have participated in an archeological expedition in the United Arab Emirates. We used two LAUV vehicles and a multicopter to locate wrecks in the coast of Sharjah. This team is also part of Um Mergulho Na História, a collaboration for locating and studying wrecks in coastal Alentejo.

O veículo autónomo submarino utilizado pela Marinha no plano de água da pedreira de Borba foi desenvolvido em conjunto com o LSTS. Esta colaboração ocorreu no âmbito do projecto Seacon, cujo principal objectivo consistiu em suprimir as dificuldades da Marinha em operações de busca e salvamento. Este projecto culminou na entrega de três veículos autónomos submarinos à Marinha.

Every two years the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (IEEE OES) sponsors a collaborative symposium to bring together those working in the field of autonomous underwater vehicles.

The 13rd edition of this symposium took place in Porto, Portugal at the University of Porto, last week and its organization was managed by LSTS team.
